Why We No Longer Work with Venues That Force Us to Use Their In-House Sound Systems
(Spoiler: It’s Ruining Your Wedding)
By Adam Saber, Founder of Adam Saber Signature Events
Let’s get right to it, mandatory in-house sound systems at venues are failing couples and guests, and it’s time someone called it out.
Since 2005, I’ve had the privilege of producing over a thousand high-end private events and luxury weddings through Adam Saber Signature Events. I've worked in nearly every major venue across New Jersey and beyond, and I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. On top of that, I’ve toured nationally and internationally as a DJ and recording artist under The Beat Drops. I’ve been behind the decks in front of thousands and intimately involved in some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives. And if there’s one thing I know with absolute certainty, it’s this:
Bad sound ruins great moments.
When bad sound is coming directly from venue-owned systems that are outdated, underpowered, or flat-out poorly installed. It doesn’t matter how good your entertainment is, if the gear can’t deliver, the experience falls apart.
That’s why I’ve made a very clear decision: Adam Saber Signature Events will no longer accept bookings at venues that require us to use their in-house sound systems.
This isn’t a move based on pride. It’s based on principle and on delivering the standard of excellence that our clients hire us for.
Here’s what most couples aren’t told: when venues insist on using their built-in audio, the guest experience suffers. From muffled vows during ceremonies or the father of the bride speech, to dead spots on the dance floor and awkward conversations shouted across tables, these systems often can’t handle the complexity of a live event. And worst of all, when it goes wrong, no one blames the venue, they blame the entertainment.
Even when we’re doing everything right, we’re now working within the limits of someone else’s subpar equipment. And it shows.
Meanwhile, a maître’d or venue coordinator, someone with no professional audio experience might be assigned to "monitor the volume.” Imagine asking your florist to run the lighting rig, or your photographer to manage the timeline. It makes no sense. We don’t tell the chef how to cook, please don’t tell us how to engineer sound.
Our solution? We invested in top-tier RCF systems that are clean, powerful sound specifically tuned for each event space we step into. Our setups allow guests to enjoy the music while still being able to hold a conversation without yelling, stepping outside, or worse, leaving the night with a headache or a ringing in their ears.
Because no one remembers that “the venue made us use their speakers.” They just remember the speeches were hard to hear, the music was distorted, or they had to leave early because it was too loud or too dull. It’s our job to make sure that never happens.
We understand how hard venues work. We’ve built incredible relationships with many of them and believe the best events happen when every vendor brings their A-game and works together. When everyone is aligned such as the venue, DJ, planner, photographer, caterer, it creates magic. That’s when a couple leaves saying:
“That was the best night of our lives. We wouldn’t change a thing.”
But that only happens when everyone is empowered to do their job right, without restrictions or compromises.
So moving forward, we’re setting a new standard. We’re not here to make noise. We’re here to create moments, to design energy, and to elevate private event production to the level it deserves.
If that means walking away from a venue that doesn’t share that vision, so be it.
Your wedding. Your vision. Let us exceed it.

Don’t be fooled by all the bells & whistles

One of the latest concepts to hit the Entertainment industry within the past few years for private events is the new options of technology you can add to your event. Some of these general enhancements include lighting, visual effects, multimedia production, and photo booths that we at Adam Saber Event Entertainment offer for your Wedding, Corporate events and social gatherings. Although these can definitely add to your affair and take your celebration to another level, some clients who are eager to add them might be missing the most important and crucial part of their special day. Can your entertainment provider, without all those extra goodies, bring your vision to life and still exceed your expectations?
The most important part of your affair that Adam Saber Event Entertainment’s Producers rely on is the artistry of the music played. First and foremost, we want to deliver incredible sound and sound levels for your guests. Our goal is to provide an array of music that will entertain each and every one of your guests, mixing it with an original touch and reading the audience to capture that next level of excitement! In today’s day and age, the current client understands that music can make or break your event (of course, followed by the food and all the other services you plan!). If your entertainment does not deliver, even if the 25-30 minute main dinner course was out of this world, 99% of your guests will leave remembering that they did not have a great time. People want to enjoy their time at your affair – they come to party! We want to be sure that the music isn’t played too loudly, that we have precise timing in music choice, and we create those perfect climax points during our sets.
In all aspects that Adam Saber Event Entertainment provides, we truly rely on the music and making sure that we exceed your expectations with our services. When an affair has all the bells and whistles of lighting, photo booths, sparklers, multimedia screens, and lighting effects, these will not hide the lack of professional music entertainment skills. Music is the constant throughout an affair – from start to finish, you want to be sure that you are choosing a company with an expertise in this area. By choosing Event Producer, Adam Saber, or any of our Event Hosts, we guarantee that you will love every moment we create throughout your event. Music is our priority at your affair. Adding any of our atmosphere effects will not be wasteful as we truly utilize the newest options technology has to offer. We pride ourselves on our music skills and ensure that we will make everything else easier to decide on when planning for your Wedding, Corporate event or social gatherings!

Going In With The Right Vibe, Both Personality & Musically

Whether you have been in the industry for over a decade or you are brand new to this amazing career path, showcasing your business is not just for the clients but also for the other vendors in this industry, especially the banquet hall!
So you pull up to the venue and you wonder what kind of banquet hall team you’ll be working with today. Maybe the venue will roll out the red carpet and will play as a team. Maybe you’ll be hit in the face with the litany of “house rules” because the hall had negative experiences in the past and is assuming we’re all the same. Depending on what you face, you have to let it roll off your back and get to what you do best.
There is a lot we can do to avoid conflict and possibly change any negative pretenses a hall might expect from us. I suggest a pre-entry phone call to the venue. Find out what time you can expect to be allowed in, ask about their load-in policy, ask about who you’re working with and most importantly, find out what they expect from you as a guest vendor in their “house”.
We should treat the banquet halls that we are invited into as though they were our own home or office. We may only be there for a few hours but we can make or break our impression in that short time. Maybe the last DJ left garbage behind such as food, drinks, dead batteries, paper work, etc. or even started the event off with a poor attitude. Imagine someone coming into your home or office and simply walking around like they owned the place and left their garbage behind for you clean it up. How would you feel? You may have sick dance sets and mix like no other but how you treat the employees of that hall will leave the longer lasting mark.
As professionals in this industry, we have the ability to change the way we are viewed by banquet halls and maitre’ds. Arrive with a positive attitude, stay aware of what the hall expects of you and treat the venue as if it were your home. You came to rock an event and want to leave a positive impression on all you encounter at that event, from the guests of honor, their guests and the banquet hall. The biggest compliment you can get in this industry is the recommendation by a banquet hall to their future clients. Positivity and respect, along with your talent on the dance floor, can help you earn that!
